Target Reader/Aim

Paediatric health professionals should take a look at this new website. After a girl called Isabel fell dangerously ill from unrecognised complications from chickenpox, a medical charity was set up to produce a clinical decision support system for use by all healthcare professionals - this system has been named Isabel. Health professionals can register to use this online system by completing a simple form on the website.

Sections include

  • Diagnostic Tool - a system that provides doctors with relevant differential diagnoses when they enter clinical features. There is also an explanation of how the diagnostic software works, and where the information is obtained.

  • Advanced Paediatric Life Support Guidelines - guidelines/algorithms are available produced by the Advanced Support Life Support Group. There are links to BNF drug information in these guidelines.

  • Guidelines - treatment guidelines and algorithms produced by the Isabel guidelines team.

  • Experience - this contains clinicians’ experiences and knowledge gained from previous diagnoses. The information can be submitted anonymously.

  • Image Library - contains X-Rays, clinical photographs and slides that have been submitted by experts.

The site also contains a links to the MRCPCH Examination Teaching website and to a Discussion Forum page which is currently disabled, but will be available from August. There is a feedback form to submit comments, a page of hyperlinks and contact details for the charity.
